My Pinteresting Week.

Those of you who are Facebook friends with me might've seen that Matt tagged me in a post recently that said something like: "Kerri just said the dorkiest thing I've ever heard a human say: I've been doing lots of Pinteresting things." To be fair, it was a really dorky thing to say. But, I can't contain my newfound love for Pinterest. I know many of you found Pinterest a couple of years back, and while I knew of its existence back then, I had no interest in it. I'd roll my eyes every time I heard someone talk about how they spent hours just "pinning" (just as I'm sure many of you non-Pinterest lovers are rolling your eyes while reading this post. No worries- I've been there too). So, my love affair got a late start, but it's in borderline obsession mode right now.

Check out my Pinterest inspired projects this week:

The "Caught you being good" jar.

The idea behind this jar is to provide children with positive reinforcement. Instead of focusing solely on time-outs when Camden is misbehaving, I'm also using this jar as an opportunity to reward him and let him know I notice when he does something good (examples: being sweet to his sister, eating all of his lunch/dinner without complaints, cleaning up his messes, etc.). When I "catch" him being good, I stick a little happy monster (aka: a tiny pom-pom with eyes-- a fun little craft Camden and I made together) into his jar. When his jar is full, he's rewarded with a special prize.

The Accessory Hanger.

No explanation needed on this one-- it's just a cute DIY accessory holder for a little girl's room. I'm one of the least crafty people I know and I had no trouble putting this together. And it turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself. Now I just need my little bald girl to grow some hair so we can actually put some of these accessories to use!

The Family Wall.

There are a million different versions of family walls on Pinterest, but mine actually isn't Pinterest inspired (shocking, I know). I've had pictures on the wall going up my stairs for a few years, but recently my mom suggested adding some decorative mirrors and some letters. I love the way it turned out. The letters are representative of our first names & our last name. We'll keep adding pictures, of course.

To you both, on Father's Day

I'm late on this post because we spent a fun-filled and sun-filled weekend at my parents' new lake house where Camden became a semi-professional jet skier (while accompanied by a slow driving adult & wearing a life jacket, of course). But, I didn't want to let the week pass by without acknowledging Father's Day (which seemed to come extremely early this year, right?!). So, here goes:

To the man who worked ridiculously long hours, often leaving the house before the sun was up and often not arriving home until the sun had long since set: thank you. Thank you for being the reason that our family never did without. To the man who taught me "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me": thank you. What an important life lesson for a young girl and one I will be sure to pass along to Camden and Macey. To the man who taught me how to check my oil, how to put air in my tires, to never leave the house without cash in my wallet (okay, I still fail miserably at this one), and to never be content with mediocrity: thank you. To the man who has become such an incredible Pop to my sweet children: thank you. I had one of the best grandfathers of all time in Papa and I'm glad that my kids get to experience that kind of relationship with you. Happy Father's Day, Dad. I love you.

**

To the man who works so hard to provide for our family so that I'm able to stay home with Camden and Macey: thank you. To the man who doesn't hesitate to get down on the floor and build a Lego tower with Camden or throw Macey up on his shoulders for a ride: thank you. To the man who causes Camden to yell "DADDY!" the second the door opens at the end of a workday: thank you. To the man who is often the recipient of Macey's gummy smile and excited wave (even when she last saw you 3 minutes before): thank you. To the man who has taught Camden everything from gardening to the proper way to cheer for the Orioles: thank you. To the man whose love for his children is apparent in everything he does: thank you. Camden and Macey are two lucky kids and I hope they always know that. Happy Father's Day, Matt. We love you.

A Peek at our Week

In honor of Wordless Wednesday, here's a quick peek at what our past week has been like:

Let me out of this baby gate jail!
Cheese!

Such a lady-like way to eat.

Her first time "eating" mashed potatoes. Or: her first time face painting with mashed potatoes.
What? Nothing to see here, Mommy. Look away!

Taking a little ride on Daddy's shoulders.

On our daily afternoon walk. His new plastic boat must always come with us.

King of the hill!
Cheeeeese!!
 My little artist
Silly face. Yes, I'm aware my back patio looks like the remnants of a toy bomb explosion.

Breaking the "wordless" part of this post to share one exciting little tidbit: Macey is now walking with the help of a push toy! It's not the most graceful walk ever, but it's effective-- she can get all the way around the house while pushing her little toy. My baby's growing up fast!
