I had my 38 week check up today. They didn't bother to check me for dilation this time since: a) absolutely nothing was going on when they checked last week and b) I haven't been having any contractions. He did tell me, however, that I had the "green light" to go into labor anytime I wanted now. Call me crazy but I'm still hoping to continue baking this little boy for a couple more weeks.
He also told me that I tested positive for Group B Strep. I think our (very one-sided) conversation went something like this: "You tested positive for Group B Strep, which is not uncommon. We'll just give you antibiotics when you go into labor. So, what's new with you?"
And that was pretty much it. So I wasn't really worried about it until I got home and consulted Dr. Google. Why do I do this to myself? I hate Dr. Google so much, and yet, I can't seem to stay away from him.
In order to avoid being committed into an insane asylum during these last couple of weeks of pregnancy, I am going to force myself to break up with Dr. G and trust my doctors-- you know, the real-life people that know my medical history and examine me weekly? I do trust that I'm in good hands with them.
PS- I got my H1N1 vaccination yesterday. Finally. My mom hunted it down at a random Walgreens. I'm convinced there's nothing that woman can't do.

I was Group B strep positive with my daughter and your doctor was right...all they did was give me IV antibiotics as soon as I arrived in the hospital and everything went perfectly!
Your Mom rocks. Bummer about the GBS+, but I'd go with the doc on this one- you'll be ok. :) Crazy that you are 38 weeks now! I heard that it takes 2 weeks for the H1N1 vaccine to cover the baby as well after birth, so I hope you make it all the way to the EDD! (one of my co-workers made it one week past her H1N1 shot, and she was really trying to hold out longer) Although I absolutely cannot wait to see your first baby pictures!!!
Yes, break up with Dr. Google. I unfortunately have a desk job so breaking up is next to impossible. It's like trying to call it quits with an ex who is also your next door neighbor - not going to happen.
Thanks for the comment on the internet cheapies. I have been thinking for a while that they might be crappy and this confirms it. I'm glad I'm not the only one now!
Dr. Google and I have had a rocky relationship. Lots of break ups and make ups. It's a very unhealthy relationship and I'm thinking of trying to end it for good. I think you are wise to do the same! It only ends in heartache each time :) So glad you found the H1N1 vaccine finally! I too was annoyed at how they made it seem so important to get it for pregnant women but no one seemed to have it. Your mom is awesome! Wow you are only 2 weeks away!!! How exciting!
What would we do without our mums, right?
Cannot believe you already have the green light for labour!
All my best wishes for the big day!
Ah! Doctor Google, i have been his patient for quite a while but now instead of going to him, i just turn my attention to God and it's worked for me!
My SIL had that too. It seemed like no biggie though when she had her IV.
