Right now, I am...

[Shamelessly stole this idea from another blogger, but I thought it was a great way to do a quick little catch up on what's going on in my life right at this moment.]

Right now, I am:

appreciating what a helpful husband I have. Between school work, my field study, and the usual-- house work, blogging, keeping up with an 18 month old and a 4 year old, cooking dinner, packing lunches, car pool, and on and on-- I'm a tad busy these days. And it's nice to have a husband who can (and will) pick up the slack. Here's to a daddy that says, "Hey buddy, let's go outside and ride in your Jeep while Mommy finishes her work." And here's to a daddy that gets up in the middle of the night to rub the back of a teething toddler. Yep- I'm thankful.

reading "The Ultimate Student Teaching Guide". Exciting, right? That's about all I have time for right now. However, I'm always looking for good book recommendations so send them my way. I don't like cheesy romance novels or anything too scary. I'm game for anything else!

cooking....umm? Frozen chicken nuggets? Actually, I am trying to be better and my crockpot has been really helpful lately. I made beef stroganoff in it the other night that actually got Matt's seal of approval (which doesn't happen that often). My other favorite recipe lately? BBQ chicken wrapped in bacon with swiss cheese melted on top. Once again, feel free to send any (easy) recipes my way. Bonus if they can be made in a crockpot!

daring to run a 5k. I know, I know- it's not much. But it's my first "real" race. I'm a regular runner, but I'm also a casual runner, meaning I never time myself and I run whatever distance I feel like and don't really push myself. I'm already up to 3 miles though, so I think I can do this. Fingers crossed. The race is a fundraiser for a co-worker of Matt's who has cancer, so yay for a good cause.

inspired by this post. There just are no words for the kind of human being Jen is. If you don't follow her story, you should. She's an example of the type of person we should all aspire to be.

loving my sweet, adorable, melt-your-heart children. Truly. I still kind of can't believe they're mine.

embarrassed by how much I enjoyed this past season of Vanderpump Rules. Okay, I'm not really embarrassed. I'm allowed this guilty pleasure...right?!

obsessing over McDonald's large sweet tea. I think I just heard my dentist groan. I can't help it- it's addicting. And only a dollar!

learning how to balance. And accept help. And ask for help. (Don't know what I'd do without you, Mom, Lauren, and Matt!)

And just because every post needs a picture, I thought these two summed up Camden and Macey's respective personalities quite nicely:

Camden hard at work, focused and concentrating.

Macey running as fast as her little legs will carry her, barefoot and carefree.

Interview with Camden

Oh, Camden. This might be your best work yet.

Here he is, that boy of mine, at 4 years and 3 months old. Stay tuned for lots of distractions, side tracking, and some great one liners. At one point, he also offers me serious validation for being a stay at home mom (if there was such a thing as a sarcasm font, I would be using it right now). But seriously- I adore this child. Four's a pretty awesome age.

Click below to watch the interview. Oh, and excuse my voice. I've had bronchitis for about a week now. Fun, fun!

PS- Happy (belated) Valentine's Day from my littlest loves.

House Tour: Upstairs Version

Okay, it was honestly not my intention to make you guys wait this long for the continuation of my house tour (I'm sure you've all been on the edge of your seats anticipating my update...or not). The thing is, I had all of my upstairs pictures ready to go. But I was having an upholstered headboard made for the bed in my bedroom and the guy took a little longer to finish it than I was anticipating. And I didn't want to post pictures of my headboard-less bed. Anyway. Without further ado, welcome to the tour of the second floor of my home:

Hallway when you first walk up the stairs. If the railings look funny, it's because we have a baby proofing cover over them. Macey threw one too many things through those slots and also tried to squeeze herself in between them on more than one occasion. Way too scary for me. I've loved the security these simple coverings give.

Our bedroom. Remember, this is not the true master bedroom of the house (that's downstairs). This is the bedroom we converted into our master so we could be on the same floor as the kids. It's a decent size and has a bathroom in it, so it works.
Aforementioned upholstered headboard. I love it.

Bathroom in our bedroom.

This room is Matt's creation- it's our theater room. There's a row of couches in the front and then a platform with another couch behind it. (Note Macey with the remote. She was saying "Bubbles", requesting Bubble Guppies to be put on the big screen.)
Here's the big screen (and if you have really good eye sight,  you'll see that Macey's request was fulfilled and Bubble Guppies is playing.) Normally, this room is darkened with blackout curtains but I opened them for the sake of lighting.

View of both couches. Ignore the blackout curtains awkwardly pushed aside.

Not much to explain here- hall bathroom between Camden and Macey's rooms.

Camden's room. He currently sleeps in his train bed, but we have another single bed in the room (pictured below) for him to grow into. I have visions for this room...I'm thinking we'll paint the walls blue and do a Star Wars theme as he gets a little older. If we stay in this house, of course.

And to wrap up the tour: Macey Jean's room.
I love this little reading nook.

So there you have it, folks. The final leg of our house tour. Hope you've enjoyed your peek into our home.
